Applegate Dam Hydroelectric Project
The Applegate Dam is located on the Applegate River in southwest Oregon near the city of Medford, OR. The reservoir created by the dam is known as Applegate Lake.
Applegate Dam was completed by the US Army Corps of Engineers in the fall of 1980. The proposed powerhouse at this site will accommodate one 2.82 MW vertical Francis unit and one 7.18 MW vertical Francis unit, both supplied by HTE Engineering. The total installed capacity will be 10 MW, with an expected average annual production of 44.3 GWh. HTE Engineering is also supplying two butterfly valves (one 1,300 mm and one 1,900 mm diameter) to serve as turbine shutoff valves for the units.
The flow range at this site is 100 – 825 cubic feet per second, and the net hydraulic head range is 100 – 210 feet. This project is currently in the planning and design phase.
