Clark Canyon Dam Hydroelectric Project
The Clark Canyon Dam is located in southwestern Montana, about 20 miles southwest of Dillon, Montana. The reservoir created by the dam is known as Clark Canyon Reservoir.
Clark Canyon Dam was completed by the US Bureau of Reclamation in 1964. The proposed powerhouse at this site will accommodate two 2.35 MW vertical Francis units, each supplied by HTE Engineering. The total installed capacity will be 4.7 MW. HTE Engineering will also supply two 1,800 mm butterfly valves to serve as turbine shutoff valves.
The flow range at this site is 75 – 750 cubic feet per second, and the net hydraulic head range is 59 – 109 feet. A federal license for the project was received in August 2009. This project is currently in the planning and design phase.
