Chester Rubber Dam Installation Completed
March 1, 2014
The construction, installation, and testing of the Chester Rubber dam on the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River in Chester, Idaho was successfully completed in February of 2014. This rubber dam consists of three equal air-inflated sections, with each section measuring 115 feet in length and 3.2 feet high when fully inflated. The installation of this dam was part of the larger Chester Hydro Project, which included the construction of a new hydro power plant with three S-type turbine units with a total generating capacity of 3.3 MW. The rubber dam was retrofitted to the top of the existing ogee crest dam to help increase the upstream head for additional power generation and for irrigation diversion. HTE Engineering would like to thank all those involved in making this project successful.
